Visa Application Requirements for US citizens
Swiss Business Travel Requirements:
Email Requirements
A visa is not required for a stay of up to 90 days. Traveler must be in possession of a passport valid for 6 months beyond stay and a round-trip airline ticket. A visa may be required if trip purpose is other than basic business meetings.
1Passport Requirements:

Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page available for stamp(s).

A student visa is required to enroll in a course of study in Switzerland.
1Passport Requirements:

Original, signed passport plus two photocopies of passport information pages. Passport must be valid for 6 months beyond stay, with at least one blank visa page available for visa stamp(s). Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps. Please note: You may submit photocopies of your passport to begin this process and send the original passport to Travisa at a later date to receive the visa stamp if you need to travel during the long processing time to obtain this visa.

2 Swiss Visa Application Form:

Three properly completed and signed student (type D) visa application forms per applicant, plus one copy. Improperly completed forms may delay the processing of your visa.
3Photo Requirements:

Four recent 2 x 2 passport type photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/white background.
4Other Requirements:


- Two copies of confirmation/registration letter from the school or university in Switzerland
- Two copies of confirmation of payment of school tuition fees
- A statement containing exact details of income and assets, with official proof and/or bank statements (2 copies each)
- Two copies of previous diplomas and school certificates
- Two copies of a written confirmation that the applicant will leave Switzerland after he/she completes the chosen course study
- Two copies of a resume (biographical data, schools attended, etc.)
- Two copies of a brief essay on the applicant's future plans
5 Global Reservation Form:

This is Travisa's service order form, where you will select the visa processing needed and make your payment. You must print the completed form and send it to Travisa with all other supporting documents.

Swiss Visa Processing Time:

Student visa application information will be forwarded for a decision to the competent cantonal foreign police where you intend to study. The Embassy or Consulate of Switzerland will only be able to issue the visa upon receipt of authorization from Switzerland. Please note that the procedure takes at least 8 to 10 weeks.
In order to ensure that visa applications for most embassies/consulates are submitted on the day that we receive them, they should be shipped to us via FedEx Priority Overnight (not First Overnight or Standard Overnight).
Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until all visas and passports are secured and in your possession.

  1. Review instructions based on the purpose of journey to Switzerland
  2. Complete, print and sign all visa application forms, including Travisa's Global Reservation Form
  3. Send all of the visa application requirements listed above to Travisa.
